Hillsboro DUII and Washington County Court Information

I just got arrested for an DUII charge in Washington County.  What happens now?

For general information on Oregon DUI arrests please consult the main page of the Oregon DUII Guide and the DUII Diversion Guide

If you were arrested in Washington County, Oregon you were either given a citation to appear in court or booked into the Washington County Jail.  If you were booked into jail you most likely were given a release agreement directing you to appear in court at some date in the future.  If you were arrested for a felony DUII or other serious charge you may be held in custody at least through your first court appearance (and perhaps longer).

You must attend your court appearance or a bench warrant will be issued for your arrest.  In Washington County, if you hire an Oregon DUI attorney before your initial court appearance (arraignment), you may be able to absent yourself from this first appearance if (1) your most serious charge is a misdemeanor; and (2) you were booked into custody and given a release agreement on the night of your arrest.  Speak to an attorney for more information.

Where am I supposed to appear for court?

Read your paperwork.  Either your citation or your release agreement will tell you where to appear for your first court date.  Most Washington County DUII arraignments are held at the Law Enforcement Center (215 Adams Avenue in Hillsboro, Oregon).  This building is often referred to as "LEC" (rhymes with Shrek).  This is also where the jail is located.  There is one courtroom in this building.  [If you were arrested in the City of Beaverton, your first court appearance may be in Beaverton Municipal Court (4755 SW Griffith Drive in Beaverton, Oregon).]

Show up on time.  Don't wear shorts or a tank / halter top.  Don't bring a child with you.  Don't bring medical marijuana / mace / knives etc. with you.  Put your purse / phone / bags / keys in the jail lockers before attempting to enter the courtroom.

Will all my court appearances be held in this building?

No.  Only your first court appearnce is held at the Law Enforcement Center.  Most other court appearances are held in the main Washington County Courthouse located at 150 N. First Avenue in Hillsboro.  You may also enter through the Second Avenue entrance.

Are there any sentencing options that are unique to Washington County?

Washington County has both a "restitution center" program.  Speak with your attorney for more information about these programs.

Keep in mind that DUII is a state crime.  While each court treats these charges in their own way, the DUII statutes and mandatory penalties such as license suspensions are the same statewide.
